When I heard that Joe Biden was considering getting into the 2016 presidential election, my first thought was that this would be a good thing because it’s another vote from Hillary. Immediately after that I realized that if he won, it would basically be a third term for Barack Obama’s policies. Not long after that I remembered it doesn’t matter who the nominee is, most people will vote for their party’s candidate regardless of policy. So, although this post may not sway any hardcore Democrats, maybe it will help those of you on the fence about Uncle Joe’s candidacy.
If you’re one of those people who believe that ‘greenhouse-gases’ like carbon-dioxide are bad for the environment, then Joe Biden might be your guy! In 2007 both Barack Obama and Joe Biden co-sponsored the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act which supported a cap and trade system aimed at bringing carbon emissions down to 1990 levels by the year 2020. If you’re a supporter of this bill and it’s objectives, I know I can’t sway you, but I do suggest you go back to elementary school and relearn about photosynthesis. If that won’t do it, maybe this next one will.
The Second Amendment is one of the most cherished rights that Americans hold dear. Recent shootings that have been largely publicized by the media have resulted in a stronger push by the Federal Government to restrict the people’s rights to keep and bear arms any way that they can. Joe Biden pushed for the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 and said semi-automatic rifles were “weapons of war” and that this ban along with the limitation on the size of magazines was “just the beginning.” Biden was Obama’s point-man and the most outspoken on this issue.
Still not convinced? Here’s another caveat of concern for your to chow down on. None of us will ever forget what happened on September 11th, 2001, just like many people will never forget what happened on April 19th, 1995. While we remember those we lost on those tragic days, we should also remember Joe Biden’s role in each of their aftermaths. Joe Biden sponsored the Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995, just a few months before the Oklahoma City Bombing, on Bill Clinton’s behalf. During debates surrounding the 2001 USA Patriot, Biden was quoted as saying, “I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing and the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill.”
Final Thoughts
You may not agree with the idea that carbon-dioxide is not a pollutant – that it’s necessary for the creation of oxygen into the atmosphere. You might even agree that guns need to be restricted and limited, but surely you don’t believe that they should all be banned. The right to own guns is the right to self-defense. Although limiting the number rounds in a magazine might sound reasonable on the surface, in the words of Joe Biden, it’s “just the beginning” and it only gets worse in terms of American’s liberties and we can see that in his record. Say NO to Joe!
